Members of the Venus Appeal ready to hand out awareness leaflets

Hundreds of balloons soared above Preston on Monday 18th September 2006, as the launch of the Venus Appeal and gynaecological awareness week was marked with a balloon release at 1.00pm from the Preston Flag Market.

Members of the Venus Appeal team, with many other willing helpers, gave out leaflets alongside the Lancashire and South Cumbria Mobile Information Unit. Crowds gathered to cheer as the balloons were released into the wonderfully sunny sky.

The day was a great success and also attracted local newspapers, who photographed the event, to help publicise the Venus Appeal and gynaecological cancer awareness week. You can download the newspaper report and see more photographs from the event below.
