As part of the NHS Modernisation Agency, the CSCIP is a national programme of work designed to improve the way in which cancer services are provided. Its goal is to improve the experience and outcomes for patients with suspected or diagnosed cancer. They offer practical approaches to delivering the improvement targets laid out in the Cancer Plan (2000) (click for more details) by:

  • Providing certainty and choice for patients
  • Pre-planning and pre-scheduling care at times to suit patients
  • Reducing unnecessary delays and restrictions on access to services
  • Improving patient and carer experience
  • Ensuring that the patient receives the best care, in the best place, by the best person/team

You can learn more about Gynaecological Cancer experiences of the healthcare system (or "patient pathways") and view 'best practice' examples of how a patients' journey should be designed here.
